Skincare is the medical practice focused on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of skin disorders. Skin care is the array of practices that support skin health, improve its physical appearance and alleviate several skin conditions associated with aging. They may comprise proper use of emollients, prevention of excessive sunlight exposure and nutritional support.

Skin care includes cleansing and moisturizing the skin using mild soaps, creams and serums that have sunscreen or other protective measures. Cleansers are categorized into two categories, the toners and cleansers. Toners remove dirt, grease, and excess of sebum from the face. Cleansers remove impurities such as dead skin cells, makeup residue, oily make ups and water. Some cleansers include astringents to strip away dirt, while others combine exfoliating ingredients for an overall cleansing effect.

Skincare includes daily moisturizer, which helps keep the skin soft and hydrated. The other main ingredient in a routine is a mask, which is used to clean the face and to remove makeup. For deep-cleansing procedures, the toner may be applied afterwards to ensure that the mask is effective and the pores are cleansed thoroughly.

Skin should be washed with lukewarm water preferably and then rinsed with cold water. It should then be dried with soft cloth, and moisturizer should be applied throughout the day. Those who have dry skin, may want to opt for a humidifier or an olive oil wash to hydrate and soften their skin. Once or twice weekly, a deep cleansing routine should be undertaken, which usually involves washing the face with warm water and then rinsing with cold.

After cleansing, a moisturizer should be applied to lock in moisture, especially during the night. A good routine should also include exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, and possibly another moisturizer. If there are oily spots on the face, a mixture of lemon juice and salt can help to take off excess oil. Exfoliation should be done once a week and regularly. Those with combination or dry skin may wish to choose natural or organic skin care products, as these tend to be less irritating to the skin and gentle on sensitive skin types. Natural and organic products should not contain mineral oils, which tend to clog the pores and cause breakouts.

It’s very important to choose a product that has good ingredients and good manufacturing standards. There are plenty of excellent natural serums and moisturizers out there, which are designed for everyday use. These are often inexpensive, but it’s always worth spending a little extra for the best results. The beauty industry is booming, and as a market becomes more demanding, you can expect excellent quality ingredients to increase. With the right ingredients, products can give you amazing results.
